The following article is about the three-month study in londonmet, which is reflecting on my experience on the pre-sessional English course so far.
The pre-sessional English course and British university life is not as I expected. There are a lot of different between the style of learning and teaching in the UK and China. When I was in China, the mode of teaching is very old-fashioned; atmosphere of students is not active. The students come to school everyday just listen the words what their teacher said. There is no autonomy of learning. So I like the way of teaching here more.
During these three years, my English improved, and have a lot of new friends from different countries. I really enjoyed it very much.

Task 16
Today I went to ‘self-study tools’ on weblearn. I chose the link of how to write a technical report. The writers are Kevin Boone, Principal Instructor, Sun Microsystems UK.
In the article, it told me the key of essay writing. The essay writing is not as easy as write a dairy. You should have a lot of skills in order to do the good work, namely reading and summary. This article gives some general guidelines on writing a technical or scientific report. It describes the `standard model' of report writing, and some alternatives. The article is intended for students who are currently undertaking undergraduate or master's degree projects, or expect to do so in the near future. Task 6
The first module I will be studying in semester 1 is Globalisation, Internationalisation and Communications.Marion Banks will be my module leader.And I also got the module aims from the website.
They are:
To introduce students to debates around global communications and the critical role played by international policy and regulatory organisations;
To engage in a critical analysis of theoretical debates around globalisation, cultural imperialism and development;
To consider the economic and political factors which underlie the communications structure of specific countries.
It is said: This course will cover theories in economics and characteristics of the information and cultural product; internationalization of production and globalization of markets; corporate strategies.growth of the advertising and media industries; commodification of services and globalization; relative price effect and value added.
It will also cover international flow of communications; trade in information and cultural products;Communications and Development theories; theories of Mattelart, Schiller and Hamelink. Theories of cultural imperialism. The ITU and spectrum allocation; industrialised countries versus LICs and NICs; the role of the US;The World Trade Organisation and the debate around liberalisation of trade in services and telecoms; Case studies of communications in Lics and Nics e.g. India, Brazil, Ireland, Jamaica.
At last, I found my reading list, and I'll do some reading about it next week.

Today I went to Westminster Abbey. With the best-selling book "The Da Vinci Code," the Westminster abbey controversial description, let me full of curiosity to this church.
The British royal family almost all of the important ceremony, held in Westminster, one of the most important ceremony of course, King's accession to the throne. From 1066 to date, apart from two exceptions, the United Kingdom all the king and queen are crowned here, most of them are also buried here after death. So Westminster faithful record of the rise and fall of the British royal family.
Through this tour, I gain a better understanding of British culture, and know a lot about the history of the United Kingdom. I enjoyed it very much.

When I finish it, I found it really helpful to find some thing which I am looking for about the subject I want. As I said above, the main idea of it is help you to find the thing you want on internet.
It can help you to understand the advanced internet skills required for university and college work. And tell you why information quality is an issue on the web, especially for academic research, and so on.
It really help to build awareness of how to use the internet effectively for academic research.
When I finish it, I found it really helpful to find some thing which I am looking for about the subject I want. As I said above, the main idea of it is help you to find the thing you want on internet.

Re-write THE BABY
Today, I read a little story which is really interesting. The name of the story is THE BABY.
Overall, the story tells the story about the educational experiences of a man who has just become the father. The name of him is Jack. The first thing his baby did wrong was to tear pages out of her books. So Jack made a rule that each time the baby tore a page out of a book she had to stay alone in her room for four hours, behind the closed door. The baby was to tear out about a page a day, in the beginning, and the rule worked fairly well, although the crying and screaming from behind the closed door were unnerving. Jack ever thought this method will be word, but he was wrong. After a long time, his baby didn’t stop tearing out the pages from books.
In this way, the idea of trying to education in his daughter’s process, the relationship was becoming very bad. Moreover, the contradiction had also taken place in he and his wife. The family is no longer as happy as the original.
Finally, Jack understood that he should be treasured the time with his daughter, as a father. So he solved it by declaring that it was all right to tear pages out of books, and moreover.

My master subject is Mass Communications, which I like it very much.
Communication is one of the most important parts of modern world. Everyone need to communication to others. Not only for the life, but also in some business areas, communication is really needed. Just like the book (postgraduate prospectus) said, mass communications is an influential and expanding area of learning and research within the social sciences. It contains a lot of parts, namely exchange information, do business, talk to, entertain and understand each other.
From now on, the mass communication is not a very popular subject. However, with the globalisation process, its importance was recognized by the gradual. What’s more, this subject would become the basis of many disciplines with the time goes on.

After having a one-to-one tutorial with my tutor, Simon, I know more clearly about my ability and very agree with him about my strongest and weakest areas in English. From the beginning to learn English until now, spoken is my strongest area. Relatively speaking, writing and reading some less, this are resulted in lack of vocabulary. Therefore, the best way to improve my standard of English is to increase my vocabulary and do more writing text.
After I understand which part of my English study need to strengthen, I made an ‘action plan’ of 3 things I’m going to do to improve my language skills and prepare for my university study.
1. Read news from newspaper or website.
2. To learn 5 new words per day.
3. Often read some stories, and then use my own language to re-write it down.
I wish that will be help to my English study.
